Job Description
Overview:
Contribute to device testing by managing setup, configuration, firmware upgrades, and hardware validation for various enabled devices. Ensure devices are fully prepared for testing and oversee the inventory of the device lab to facilitate efficient execution by the QA team.
Key Duties:
- Prepare, configure, and uphold enabled devices designated for testing.
- Carry out firmware and software updates, confirming devices operate on the correct build versions prior to testing phases.
- Conduct validation checks on devices, covering areas like Wi-Fi connectivity, Bluetooth pairing, audio/visual output, and microphone performance.
- Oversee device inventory management, tracking device distribution and availability.
- Assist QA engineers with device provisioning, linking accounts, and setting up locale-specific configurations.
- Perform factory resets, re-registration, and device deprovisioning as needed between testing cycles.
- Document and report hardware issues or device failures with detailed records (device ID, observed symptoms, steps to replicate).
- Generate daily reports on device readiness and maintain updated device tracking sheets/tools.
- Aid in establishing test environments for new feature rollouts, regression testing, and localization efforts.
- Engage in daily stand-ups, sprint ceremonies, and team synchronization meetings.
Qualifications:
- 6 months to 1 year of experience in device/hardware support, IT asset management, or a similar area.
Essential Skills:
- Fundamental knowledge of smart home devices, IoT systems, and voice assistant technologies.
- Familiarity with device setup procedures, including Wi-Fi setup, Bluetooth connections, and firmware upgrades.
- Capability to adhere to standard operating procedures (SOPs) concerning device provisioning and lab oversight.
- Competence in utilizing tracking tools (Excel/Google Sheets, JIRA, or inventory management systems).
- Meticulous attention to detail and ability to work autonomously with minimal oversight.
- Proficient in professional English, both written and spoken.
- Comfortable working with a variety of device types and formats (smart speakers, displays, tablets, streaming devices, mobile).
Desirable Skills:
- Experience with app setup and device registration processes.
- Basic understanding of networking principles (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, IP addressing).
- Background in a QA or testing environment.
