Project Manager/BA
Job Description
Job Description: Project Manager / Business Analyst (Commercial Digital Initiatives)
Job Title: Project Manager / Business Analyst
Department: Digital Transformation / Commercial Technology
Reports To: Digital Manager
Experience Level: 4+ Years
Employment Type: Full-Time
Role Overview
We’re looking for a hands-on, delivery-oriented Project Manager / Business Analyst (PM/BA) with 4+ years of experience to manage a fast-moving portfolio of commercial digital initiatives. Reporting to the Digital Manager, you will help drive key business verticals including Aluminium, Copper Concentrate, Commercial Finance, along with overall digital project planning and coordination.
This hybrid position combines business analysis with structured project delivery. You will lead initiatives end-to-end—from problem definition and requirements discovery, to prioritization, execution, and deployment. The successful candidate is comfortable in a complex, cross-functional commercial landscape where priorities and technical requirements may shift over time.
Key Responsibilities
1. Business Analysis & Solution Definition
- Gather, examine, and document detailed business requirements, including clear problem statements, business value, scope, and desired end results.
- Assess and document end-to-end current-state (As-Is) and target-state (To-Be) business processes, system touchpoints, and data flows to identify bottlenecks, risks, and improvement opportunities.
- Convert business objectives into functional specifications, user stories, acceptance criteria, and practical technical backlog items.
- Collaborate closely with data, digital engineering, and core IT teams to confirm functional intent and resolve design uncertainties.
2. Project Delivery & Governance
- Manage digital initiatives across the lifecycle, including initiation, scoping, sprint/milestone planning, delivery execution, and business rollout.
- Create and maintain essential project documentation, including delivery roadmaps, schedules, resource planning, dependency tracking, and RAID logs (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies).
- Monitor and oversee cross-project dependencies, delivery sequencing, and resource conflicts across multiple simultaneous commercial streams.
- Produce clear executive-level project status updates, key metric reporting, and decision-support information; ensure timely escalation of blockers and high-impact risks.
3. Stakeholder Collaboration & Prioritization
- Run cross-functional alignment discussions across commercial trading desks, finance, operations, and technology teams to assign ownership, resolve conflicts, and enable effective decision-making.
- Prioritize backlogs and delivery timelines by evaluating measurable commercial value, regulatory urgency, architectural limitations, and operational dependencies.
- Maintain delivery momentum by actively removing friction between business teams and technical delivery squads.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Essential Criteria
- Experience: Minimum 4+ years of practical, end-to-end Project Management and Business Analysis experience delivering digital, data, or technology initiatives.
- Dual-Track Capability: Demonstrated ability to work across BA responsibilities (process modeling, backlog grooming, functional testing) and PM responsibilities (timeline tracking, RAID management, delivery governance) at the same time.
- Process & Data Acumen: Strong understanding of business process mapping, system flow diagramming, and data-led projects (reporting, business intelligence, API/system integrations).
- Ambiguity Navigation: Proven capability to work independently, create structure in changing environments, and adapt quickly as commercial priorities change.
- Communication & Facilitation: Strong verbal, written, and visual communication skills, with the ability to translate complex operational situations into clear technical delivery outputs.
Highly Desirable
- Agile & Product Mindset: Hands-on experience operating as a Product Owner (PO) or Scrum Master (backlog prioritization, MVP definition, release planning).
- Multi-Project Management: Experience managing multiple concurrent initiatives with interconnected data dependencies.
- Consulting Background: Prior experience in management, business, or technology consulting, supporting and influencing senior, diverse stakeholder groups.
Domain & System Exposure (Preferred, Not Mandatory)
- Industry Domain: Experience in commodity trading, wholesale supply chain, commercial operations, or heavy natural resources (metals, mining, energy, bulk commodities).
- Commercial Literacy: Familiarity with commercial finance, sales/marketing, margin analysis, contract lifecycle, or physical logistics.
- Platform Exposure: Experience with enterprise software environments including ERPs (SAP/Oracle), CRMs (Salesforce), CTRM/ETRM systems, or enterprise data platforms (Azure, Snowflake, Databricks, Power BI).
