Cloud Migration Technical Architect

Job Description: Cloud Migration Technical Architect (Grade 6)

Job Summary:

The Cloud Migration Technical Architect is responsible for end-to-end planning, architecture, governance, and technical delivery of enterprise cloud migration programmes across hybrid and multi-cloud environments. This architect will create migration strategies, define target-state architectures, lead technical delivery teams, and support successful migration of applications, infrastructure, and platforms while minimizing business disruption.

Operating within a managed services setting, the role also delivers advanced (L4) technical support for complex escalations, maintains continuous service availability, and drives operational excellence across multi-technology domains spanning cloud, networking, security, and infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Migration Strategy

. Evaluate current on-premises environments and application portfolios.

. Develop cloud adoption and migration strategies.

. Carry out application discovery and dependency mapping.

. Define migration waves and create migration roadmaps.

. Recommend suitable migration methods (Rehost, Replat form, Refactor, Repurchase,Retire, Retain).

2. Architecture Design

• Design landing zones and establish cloud foundations.
• Develop hybrid cloud architectures.
• Design networking, security, identity, backup, DR and governance.
• Create High-Level Design (HLD) and Low-Level Design (LLD).
• Set architecture standards and reusable reference architectures.

3. Migration Delivery

• Lead migration planning and execution activities.
• Review migration runbooks.
• Coordinate migration windows.
• Manage cutover and rollback planning.
• Address technical issues that arise during migration.

4. Technical Leadership

• Facilitate technical workshops with customers.
• Mentor engineers and technical leads.
• Perform architecture reviews.
• Maintain compliance with enterprise standards.
• Provide support for complex troubleshooting.

5. Governance &Risk

• Assess migration risks.
• Define mitigation strategies.
• Evaluate technical quality.
• Ensure security and compliance requirements are met.
• Participate in Change Advisory Board(CAB).

6. Customer Engagement

• Share migration strategies with executive stakeholders.
• Run discovery workshops.
• Deliver technical assurance.
• Support pre-sales and solution development.

Qualifications and Certifications :

. Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).

. Mandatory Certifications

- Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert

- Amazon Web Services AWS Certified Solutions Architect- Professional

- The Open Group TOGAF Certified

- ITIL 4 Foundation

Preferred

- VMware Certified Professional (VCP-DCV)

- Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA)

- Azure Administrator Associate

- AWS SysOps Administrator

- CISSP (preferred)

- Terraform Associate

. Additional cloud-native and container certifications are advantageous.
