Key Responsibilities:
- Mechanical Design:
- Develop detailed designs for mechanical systems and components, ensuring they meet technical requirements, performance specifications, and cost constraints.
- Utilize CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA, etc.) to create 3D models and technical drawings.
- Perform stress, thermal, and performance analysis of mechanical components and systems to ensure they meet safety and functionality standards.
- Create and refine prototypes based on design specifications and test results.
- Product Development:
- Work closely with cross-functional teams (electrical, software, etc.) to ensure that mechanical designs are integrated seamlessly into final products.
- Participate in the development and design of new products or systems, from conceptualization to final implementation.
- Perform calculations and simulations (e.g., Finite Element Analysis or FEA) to ensure the integrity and reliability of designs.
- Testing and Validation:
- Develop test plans, prototypes, and perform mechanical testing to validate design assumptions and specifications.
- Analyze test data to improve the design and resolve any issues identified during testing.
- Ensure that designs meet industry standards and client requirements.
- Technical Documentation:
- Prepare and maintain accurate documentation, including technical specifications, design calculations, and testing reports.
- Generate bill of materials (BOM), assembly instructions, and part specifications for production teams.
- Review and update design documentation as necessary during the project lifecycle.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate with project managers, other engineers, and departments to ensure that designs align with project goals and timelines.
- Communicate design concepts, ideas, and results to stakeholders clearly and effectively.
- Provide technical support to production teams during the manufacturing and assembly of mechanical components and systems.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Stay updated on the latest trends, tools, and technologies in mechanical design engineering.
- Suggest improvements to current processes, design techniques, and materials to enhance product performance and reduce costs.
- Participate in design reviews and provide constructive feedback to improve the quality of designs.
- Cost Management:
- Assist in managing project budgets and ensure designs are cost-effective while maintaining performance and quality.
- Identify opportunities to reduce production costs without compromising design integrity.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field. Master's degree is a plus.
- Experience: 2-4 years of experience in mechanical design engineering, preferably in [industry type: manufacturing, automotive, aerospace, etc.].
- Skills:
- Proficient in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA, or equivalent).
- Solid understanding of mechanical design principles, material properties, and manufacturing processes.
- Experience with mechanical analysis tools (e.g., FEA, CFD).
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Knowledge of industry standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., ASME, ISO).
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
