Job Description
Job Overview:
- We are looking for an experienced Senior Embedded Software Engineer to develop and enhance next-generation customer premises equipment (CPE), which includes DOCSIS 4
- 0 cable modems and Wi-Fi 7 routers.
- Your role will involve designing and creating firmware across various OEM platforms, utilizing RDK, RDK-B vendor SDKs, and RTOS, while managing modules from HAL to application services.
- This position encompasses system architecture, driver and middleware development, data models, telemetry, TR-369 cellular backup integration, and performance reliability engineering for devices intended for production.
Main Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and port RDK, RDK-B, or vendor SDK modules on routers and modems across multiple OEMs.
- Implement C/C++ control services for LED, USB, FAN, and system state displays for cable modems and routers.
- Create RTOS modules, drivers, SNMP interfaces, and support for SSH, Telnet, as well as voice and audio features.
- Develop data control modules for Wi-Fi 7 routers, including orchestration for cellular backup.
- Design telemetry modules for TR-369 USP based data collection and establish robust data models.
- Oversee system architecture, focusing on performance tuning, CPU and memory management, latency, reliability watchdogs, and crash dumps.
- Work collaboratively with hardware QA and cloud DevOps teams for manufacturing tests, CI/CD, and field telemetry.
- Produce high-quality design documents, test plans, and release notes, and engage in code reviews and certification preparations.
- Diagnose field escalations and conduct root cause analysis across firmware, drivers, and network stack layers.
Technical Qualifications:
- Proficient in C (expert level), C++ (proficient level), Python for tooling automation, and Shell scripting.
- Experienced with platforms such as Linux, Yocto, OpenWrt, and similar build systems, as well as RTOS including FreeRTOS and ThreadX.
- Knowledgeable in frameworks and stacks like RDK, RDK-B, and DOCSIS, preferably versions 3.1 and 4.0.
- Familiar with SNMP, TR-369 USP, and TR-069 (preferred but not required).
- Competent in networking technologies such as Wi-Fi 802.11ac/ax/be, TCP/IP, VLAN, QoS, NAT, and policy-based failover.
- Experience with drivers and middleware for GPIO, I2C, SPI, USB, LED, FAN control, audio subsystems, diagnostics, and logging.
- Proficient with toolchains including GCC, Clang, CMake, Make, cross-compilers, JTAG, UART, bootloader U-Boot, BSP, and HAL.
- Skilled in version control systems (CI) such as Git, GitLab, GitHub, and CI artifact management, including automated unit and integration tests.
- Strong focus on quality and reliability, including profiling, memory performance optimization, watchdogs, and crash analysis.
- Understanding of system architecture, module boundaries, IPC, threading, concurrency, and resource management.
Additional Qualifications:
- Preferred qualifications include:
- Expertise in Wi-Fi 7, MLO, 320 MHz channels, multi-RU scheduling, and AFC where applicable.
- Experience with cellular modems, including LTE, 5G, failover, and bonding multipath.
- Familiarity with RDK telemetry adapters, USP controllers, agents, and vendor data model mapping.
- Knowledge of Rust for systems modules, especially in safety-critical or performance-sensitive components.
- Exposure to technologies such as OpenWrt, prplOS, prplMesh, EasyMesh, and board bring-up processes.
- Involvement in manufacturing line support, factory calibration, RF testing, and firmware provisioning.
- Understanding of security protocols like secure boot, trusted execution, key management, and certificate provisioning.
