Techno-Functional Data Analyst

We are seeking an experienced Techno-Functional Data Analyst with strong Banking and Financial Services domain expertise to join our Commercial / Corporate Banking delivery programme.

The selected candidate will analyse data across multiple systems, databases, tables, and sources, convert business requirements into data requirements and mappings, and maintain data accuracy and consistency across banking applications.

This role demands practical hands-on SQL and data analysis capabilities, supported by a strong understanding of databases, APIs, interfaces, JSON, data structures, and end-to-end data flows.

The ideal candidate will be able to work effectively with both business and technical teams, investigate data issues, carry out data validation, and clearly communicate findings to stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

1. Data Analysis & Requirements Gathering

• Analyse and investigate data across multiple database tables and sources using SQL.
• Interpret business requirements and business rules, translating them into clear data requirements.
• Carry out data mapping, source-to-target mapping, data profiling, reconciliation, and data-quality analysis.
• Detect data discrepancies, inconsistencies, and gaps across different systems.
• Assess upstream and downstream impacts of changes to data sources, attributes, and mappings.

2. Technical Understanding & Data Flows

• Build and maintain a strong understanding of databases, data structures, and data models.
• Review data sourcing and end-to-end data flows across banking applications.
• Work with APIs, interfaces, database tables, SQL queries, JSON, and batch/data feeds.
• Analyse data movement and dependencies between upstream and downstream systems.
• Support data mapping and documentation for system integrations.

3. Data Validation & Issue Resolution

• Validate business calculations, data transformations, field mappings, and data behaviour against business requirements.
• Investigate data-related issues and perform root-cause analysis.
• Partner with Business Analysts, Developers, Architects, and Data Engineering teams to resolve data issues.
• Ensure data accuracy, consistency, completeness, and quality across systems.
• Support functional and data validation activities during implementation and testing.

4. Collaboration & Stakeholder Management

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams within an Agile delivery environment.
• Document data analysis, mappings, requirements, and decisions in JIRA and Confluence.
• Present technical findings and data-related issues clearly to business stakeholders.
• Coordinate with business and technical teams to help ensure successful delivery of data requirements.
