Job Description

  • Lead a team of Storage and backup administrators, providing guidance and mentorship.
  • Set goals, monitor progress, and ensure the team meets the bigger team objectives.
  • Collaborates with individuals inside own team and with other global IT teams to complete project work.
  • Engages with all levels of management and key stakeholders to develop, implement, and manage support and operational objectives.
  • Identify and incorporate future service management needs into a well-considered multi-year roadmap across the support areas.
  • Identifies, constructs, and implements plans to remove friction in the day-to-day operation.
  • Lead the culture of continuous improvement by identifying projects, initiatives & getting the business or leadership engagement and deliver them.
  • Contribute to Operation Reviews of IT services covering Customer Satisfaction, SLA performance, and Operational metrics.
  • Producing regular and accurate service management reports and dashboards for the leadership team.
  • Manage internal customer relationships with leaders across the technology organization.
  • Thinks creatively and practically to develop, execute, and implement new plans or programs. Generates and provides accurate and timely results in the form of reports, presentations, etc
  • Supports achievement of performance goals, budget goals, team goals, etc.
  • Building the organizational capacity necessary to execute the strategy.
  • Skilled in generating custom reports/dashboards and Knowledgebase documentation.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field (e.g., Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems).
  • OR
  • Bachelors degree in a non-technical field (e.g., Business, Humanities, Marketing) and 1+ year of IT-relevant experience.
  • OR
  • High School Diploma or equivalent and 3+ years of IT-relevant experience.
  • 2+ years of any combination of academic or work experience with programming (e.g., Java, Python, etc.).
  • 1+ year of any combination of academic or work experience with Data Structures, algorithms, and data stores.

Prospective candidate should be technically sound in the following.

  • Working independently with minimum supervision.
  • Have prior knowledge working in 24/7/365 IT infrastructure operation.
  • Providing supervision to direct reports.
  • Broad knowledge and understanding of different IT applications and infrastructure.
  • Strong analytical/problem solving skills, ability to provide alternatives, root cause analysis, testing skills and ability to make thoughtful proposals are also among the skills required
  • Strong understanding of ITIL or similar service management process standards
  • Devops, s/w development and scripting
  • NetApp cluster modes, Dell Isilon and Pure Storage
  • Cohesity Data Protect and Dell EMC Networker
  • Tape libraries from vendors like Oracle and Spectra logic or similar
  • Snapmirrors/Snapvaults and Disaster Recovery (including Disaster Recovery of Backup catalogs)
  • Knowledge on OS (Linux and/or Solaris)

  • Having excellent interpersonal and leadership skills will be critical for success: success depends on building rapport and credibility with multiple stakeholders across the organization.
  • Track record with delivering high availability in complex, global environments.
  • Have a wide degree of creativity and latitude to adjust to rapidly changing plans and circumstances.
  • Experience working in a hybrid on-prem and public cloud environment.
  • knowledge on Splunk queries and Splunk Dashboards
  • Certifications from major vendors like NetApp, Dell and Cohesity.
  • Any other skills that support storage and backup, not covered above.

Minimum qualification:

  • Sound knowledge in end-to-end backup storage activities
  • Providing supervision to direct reports.
  • Manage systems to provide insight into utilization, and configuration Ability to manage/handle Sev 1 tickets on priority and flexible with working hours.
  • Analytical/problem solving ability. Time management and organizational skills Ability and desire to learn new skills quickly
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

Preferred Qualification:

  • 10+ years of relevant Storage & Backup technologies.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and processes, and quickly apply them
  • Ability to work seamlessly with both vendors and internal stakeholders
  • Collaborate with cross-functional team to achieve common objectives
  • Identify and drive efficiency improvement initiatives
  • Ability to escalate critical issues to internal and/or 3rd-parties, as appropriate, and communicate status and resolution to the team.
  • Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently while making sound decisions
  • Comfortable working in a performance-based and structured environment while demonstrating high ethical standards
  • Good knowledge of industry tools.
