Staff Developer (Python FastAPI, React)

Job Description

Are you an Application Developer eager to advance your career while developing enterprise-level product and asset management solutions? This position provides a chance to work on initiatives such as MyAssets, Field Device Data Hub (FDDH), and product documentation APIs for a leading global automation technology firm. Collaborating closely with a Senior Developer, you will play a pivotal role in creating Python FastAPI backend services, React front-end applications, and REST API integrations, including connections to third-party documentation vendors that enhance Emerson's worldwide product information framework.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

• Construct and uphold Python FastAPI backend services and REST APIs for MyAssets, FDDH, and product documentation platforms under the mentorship of the Senior Developer.
• Design and sustain React.js front-end components, ensuring state management, responsive user interfaces, and seamless integration with FastAPI backend services for product and asset management processes.
• Create and maintain PostgreSQL queries, facilitate schema updates, and support data migrations for platform databases.
• Aid in the integration of REST APIs with third-party documentation platforms (Zoomin and others) by consuming APIs, transforming data, and assisting in publication processes.
• Implement SDLC best practices throughout the delivery of features, including design, development, testing, and support for production releases across the portfolio.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues across FastAPI, PostgreSQL, and React layers, escalating complex root problems to the Senior Developer with thorough analysis.
• Produce clean, well-documented, and reusable code that adheres to team standards, actively participate in code reviews, and maintain technical documentation for features you manage, including API endpoint details, data flow descriptions, and test cases.
• Collaborate with Product Owners, QA, and System Analysts to grasp requirements and deliver high-quality solutions on schedule.
• Engage in Agile ceremonies and CI/CD practices utilizing Azure DevOps.

Qualifications Required:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 3–5 years of software development experience with practical expertise in Python and React within a professional setting.
• Expertise in developing REST API services using FastAPI, including endpoint creation, Pydantic models, request/response management, and foundational async patterns.
• Strong experience in building React components with modern JavaScript (ES6+), state management (Redux or Context API), and integration with REST API backends.
• Experience in consuming and constructing REST APIs, with a solid understanding of HTTP methods, status codes, JSON payloads, and basic authentication methods (JWT or API key).
• Proficient knowledge of PostgreSQL or MySQL, including query writing, basic schema comprehension, and support for data operations in a relational database context.
• Familiarity with Git version control, Azure DevOps, or comparable CI/CD tools, along with sprint-based delivery and strong English communication abilities.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:

• Experience in integrating with third-party SaaS platforms or documentation tool APIs (Zoomin, Paligo, or similar) via REST.
• Understanding of product information, asset management, or documentation delivery platforms.
• Exposure to asynchronous programming patterns in Python, including FastAPI Background Tasks, Celery, or task queuing fundamentals.
• Familiarity with automated testing tools such as PyTest for backend and Jest or React Testing Library for frontend testing.
• Basic knowledge of Docker for local development environments.
• Experience in international, cross-time zone Agile delivery teams.
