Sr Manager Process Engineering
Job Description
New Product Development & Program Management
- Drive end-to-end NPD for forged and machined automotive components (CV joints, flanges, shafts, housings, starter clutches, etc.).
- Lead APQP, DFMEA/PFMEA, Control Plans, PPAP, documentation.
- Develop process flow diagrams, layout plans, and critical path timelines to ensure on-time project delivery.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams (Design, Quality, Production, Procurement, Tool Room) to meet customer milestones.
- Process Design & Manufacturing Engineering
- Develop hot, warm, and cold forging as well as machining processes.
- Conduct forging simulations (QFORM/FFCAM) and implement DFM/DFV principles.
- Define tooling standards, process capability indices (Cp/Cpk), and productivity norms.
- Lead process optimization, cost reduction, and cycle time improvement initiatives.
Tool Room & Fixture Development
- Oversee the design and development of dies, tools, gauges, jigs and fixtures.
- Implement standardization and modularization of dies for cost and lead-time reduction.
- Manage tool-room operations including CNC, VMC, and CAM programming (UG-NX, SolidWorks).
Customer & Supplier Interface / Technical Business Development
• Liaise with domestic and international OEMs/Tier-1 customers during RFQ, DFM review, and PPAP submission.
- Partner with customers R&D and sourcing teams to co-develop new programs and secure business.
- Coordinate with suppliers for raw material, heat treatment, and special process development.
• Provide technical support during audits, trials, and customer visits to strengthen long-term engagement.
- Provide support to eliminate chronic quality & productivity concerns.
Project Costing & Capex Planning
• Prepare project feasibility, process costing, and part-level economics for forged + machined components.
• Lead machine finalization, layout optimization, and capacity enhancement studies for new programs.
• Participate in budgeting and technology upgradation for automation, robotics, and smart manufacturing (IOT & Industry 4.0) 6.
Team Development & Systems Implementation
• Mentor engineers in NPD, tooling, and process engineering disciplines.
• Ensure to upgrade required skills in NPD team to deliver stringent customer requirements.
• Institutionalize project management systems, daily reviews, and MIS reporting.
• Support Lean / TPM initiatives to enhance equipment uptime, OEE, and manpower efficiency.
Candidate Profile
Education - Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech Mechanical or Industrial Engineering
Experience 15- 25 years in NPD, Process Design, and Tooling within forging/machining industries
