Job Description

Position Overview

Location: Bangalore

We are seeking a talented Data Engineer to become a vital part of our team, contributing to the enhancement of a platform that underpins one of the premier experimentation tools globally.

The chosen candidate will collaborate closely with fellow data engineers and site reliability engineers to enhance the reliability, scalability, maintenance, and operations of the various data products integrated within the experimentation tool.

Daily responsibilities will encompass, but are not limited to, the upkeep and operational management of data pipelines and products that handle extensive datasets, the development of capabilities for monitoring, testing, and troubleshooting within the data ecosystem of the experimentation platform, and the delivery of data products that generate metrics for large-scale experimentation. The selected individual will work in partnership with colleagues based in Amsterdam to ensure effective outcomes. This collaboration will include interactions with engineering managers, product managers, engineers, and data scientists.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

- Assume responsibility for multiple data pipelines and products, providing inventive solutions to minimize the operational workload associated with their maintenance.

- Rapidly develop next-generation, scalable, flexible, and high-performance data pipelines.

- Contribute to the enhancement of data platform capabilities, including testing, monitoring, debugging, and improving the development environment for data products.

- Address issues related to data and data pipelines, prioritizing actions based on customer impact.

- Maintain end-to-end ownership of data quality across complex datasets and data pipelines.

- Experiment with new tools and technologies to drive innovative engineering solutions that meet business needs concerning performance, scalability, and data quality.

- Provide self-service tools that assist the analytics community in discovering data, assessing quality, exploring usage, and connecting with peers possessing relevant expertise.

- Act as the primary point of contact for both technical and business stakeholders regarding data engineering challenges, such as pipeline failures and data quality issues.

Job Requirements

- Minimum of 5 years of practical experience in data engineering as a Data Engineer or a Software Engineer involved in developing data pipelines and products.

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer or Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field, or 5 years of progressively responsible experience in the specialty as an equivalent.

- Strong experience in at least one programming language; our primary languages are Java and Python.

- Proven experience in constructing production data pipelines in a cloud environment, establishing datalakes, and implementing serverless solutions.

- Hands-on experience with schema design and data modeling.

- Experience in designing end-to-end systems and familiarity with fundamental concepts such as load balancing, database caching, and NoSQL technologies.

- Knowledge of tools such as Flink, CDC, Kafka, Airflow, Spark, Snowflake, DBT, or equivalent.

- Practical experience in developing data platform capabilities like testing, monitoring, debugging, and security.

- Experience with Big Data technologies.

- Familiarity with collaborating in teams distributed across different time zones is a plus.

- Experience in experimentation statistics and A/B testing is also a plus.
