Job Description
Job Objective:
- Ensure safe and efficient operation and availability of all electrical systems and equipment of a plant in a chemical, polymer, petrochemical complex along with power plant.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime of electrical infrastructure.
- Monitor and analyze equipment performance to identify areas for improvement.
- Coordinate with other departments to plan and execute maintenance activities.
- Manage budget and resources for electrical maintenance, projects, ensuring cost-effective operations.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
- Lead and train the electrical maintenance team to enhance their skills and performance.
- Plan and oversee shutdowns and major maintenance activities.
- Implement condition monitoring techniques to predict and prevent equipment failures.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and equipment performance.
- Major challenge is to ensure safety of personnel and the machineries with respect to handling of number of hazardous products.
Specific Knowledge and Exposure Required of:
- Basics of electrical engineering in line to qualification and years of experience.
- Alternators, Switchyards, Operating in parallel with Grid at 66 kV and above.
- HT/LT Transformers, Rectifiers, HT/LT Switchgear and Panels, HT/LT motors
- VFDs, UPS & Battery charger, DG Sets, HVAC Systems, Heaters, and Heat Tracings.
- Hazardous Area Classification and selection of Electrical equipment
- Electrical protection system, relay coordination and switchgear functioning.
- Indian Electricity Rules and CEA Regulations
- Computer applications for day-to-day report generation and maintenance records.
- SAP for material management, planning and maintenance.
- Engineering, Installation and commissioning of major electrical system of a green/brown field chemical or power plant project.
Broad Skills required for the Job:
- Ability to manage electrical operations and maintenance (O&M) of a chemical complex.
- Ability to utilize knowledge on modern maintenance concepts and tools, processes like standard maintenance practices of Chemical and Petro-chemical plants, TPM, RCM, RCFA, FMEA etc.
- Ability to ensure Electrical Safety and Statutory Compliance
- Development of detailed technical specification for procurement, installation, testing and commissioning.
- Technical bid evaluation and comparison of electrical system/equipment offers for procurement.
- Understanding of technical documents and drawings with ability to review for correction.
- Resource management to fulfill the requirements.
- Experience in central planning and coordination of major activities for various electrical O&M teams.
- Proficiency in monitoring scheduled maintenance and condition monitoring
- Expertise in shutdown planning and execution
- Ability to coordinate with commercial teams for resource planning
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong analytical, problem-solving abilities along with entrepreneurial drive and customer service orientation.

Routine Functions:
- Generate the slippage report for preventive and predictive maintenance.
- Generate the routine reports: daily, monthly, quarterly, and yearly.
- Reviewing daily equipment under maintenance and status of rectification.
- Reviewing history of equipment and analyzing the root cause followed by preventive action plan.
- Ensuring jobs are being incorporated in shutdown job list as and when discussed on regular basis.
- Ensuring proper planning of all listed jobs in terms of time, material, manpower and other resources required.
- Ensuring availability of all resources in time.
- Continuous and close monitoring of all jobs to complete within time.
- Measurement verification of all jobs carried out through contractors.
- Bill certification and compliance to audit observations.
- Review the jobs for expenses, time, and limitation for future improvement.
- Reviewing all department indents and store issues.
- Review all contractor expenses.
- Identifying and getting approval for cost saving projects and subsequent implementation in time.
