Job Description
Job Overview:
- We are in search of skilled Mechanical Integrity Engineers who possess extensive knowledge in Stress Analysis and Finite Element Analysis (FEA), aimed at ensuring the structural reliability of aerospace components.
- This position entails comprehensive mechanical analysis across various engine commodities, contributing to the entire product lifecycle from initial concept through to in-service support and eventual disposal.
Main Responsibilities:
- Execute stress analysis and FEA simulations to confirm the mechanical integrity of components, including fans, compressors, casings, combustors, turbines, and structural elements.
- Utilize FEA software such as Abaqus, Ansys, and LS Dyna to forecast mechanical behavior under diverse loading conditions, such as fatigue, low and high cycle loads, creep, vibration, thermal stresses, and extreme operational scenarios like blade out and over-speed events.
- Perform mechanical integrity evaluations to guarantee product robustness and adherence to design specifications.
- Enhance in-service engine safety through rigorous stress analysis and mechanical assessments.
- Lead Design of Experiments (DoE) and mechanical testing initiatives to validate stress predictions and enhance design reliability.
- Engage with cross-functional teams to ensure designs fulfill performance, manufacturability, cost, and weight criteria.
- Develop and implement analysis plans that align with project timelines, budgetary constraints, and quality objectives.
- Propose design enhancements informed by Robust Engineering principles and insights derived from stress analysis.
- Promote ongoing improvements in FEA methodologies, stress analysis protocols, and mechanical integrity evaluation tools.
- Serve as a subject matter expert in stress analysis and FEA, disseminating knowledge throughout engineering teams.
Technical Qualifications:
- Extensive experience in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) utilizing tools such as Abaqus, Ansys, and LS Dyna.
- Expertise in stress analysis, prediction of mechanical behavior, and assessment of failure mechanisms.
- Familiarity with meshing software such as Hypermesh and Unigraphics, as well as data management systems like Teamcenter.
- Solid understanding of material science, crack propagation, contact mechanics, and thermo-mechanical fatigue.
- Ability to convey complex FEA and stress analysis findings to both internal and external stakeholders effectively.
- Knowledge of aerospace product integrity, liability, and certification standards.
Additional Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Structural Engineering (BE/BTech, MSc, MEng).
- 2 to 5 years of practical experience in FEA, stress analysis, and mechanical integrity within the aerospace or related sectors.
Preferred Expertise:
- Domain expertise in Turbomachinery, specifically Gas Turbines and Steam Turbines.
- Proficiency in Finite Element Analysis technologies, particularly ANSYS and Pro-Mechanica.
