Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • IT Support & Troubleshooting: Provide advanced technical support for both hardware and software issues across various IT systems, including computers, servers, and manufacturing equipment.
  • Network Management: Assist in the design, configuration, and maintenance of local area networks (LAN) and wide-area networks (WAN) in the plant. Ensure network security and connectivity for all systems involved in manufacturing processes.
  • System Maintenance & Upgrades: Oversee the maintenance, updates, and upgrades of IT infrastructure, including workstations, servers, printers, and other critical equipment. Ensure all systems are functioning optimally and stay up to date with the latest security patches.
  • Collaboration with Manufacturing Teams: Partner with plant management and floor teams to provide IT solutions tailored to manufacturing operations, ensuring minimal downtime and streamlined processes.
  • End-User Support: Provide high-level support to all employees, resolving issues related to software, hardware, and network access in a timely manner. Ensure staff productivity by minimizing disruptions caused by IT-related problems.
  • Technical Documentation: Develop and maintain detailed documentation of IT systems, network configurations, troubleshooting processes, and user guides to ensure consistency and efficiency in IT operations.
  • Project Management: Lead and assist with IT-related projects such as system upgrades, software implementations, and the installation of new hardware. Ensure that all projects align with company goals and manufacturing operations.
  • Vendor Management: Liaise with external IT vendors and service providers for purchasing, troubleshooting, and support on third-party hardware or software systems related to the manufacturing operations.
  • Security & Compliance: Ensure the manufacturing plants IT infrastructure adheres to all relevant security protocols and compliance standards, protecting sensitive operational data and intellectual property.
  • Training: Train and mentor junior IT support staff, sharing knowledge of best practices, tools, and troubleshooting techniques. Conduct periodic training sessions for end-users on IT tools and security practices.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft Certified IT Professional) are a plus.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in IT support, with at least 2-3 years in a senior or lead role.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure, networking, and systems administration.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Expertise in troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
  • Experience with network administration and configuration (routers, switches, firewalls, etc.).
  • Proficiency with Windows and Linux operating systems, as well as industry-specific software tools used in manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V) and cloud computing.
  • Knowledge of IT security principles, backup solutions, and disaster recovery.
  • Problem Solving & Critical Thinking: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose issues quickly and effectively in a high-pressure environment.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with team members and explain complex IT issues to non-technical users.
  • Project Management: Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously, ensuring that deadlines are met and systems are maintained without causing disruptions to manufacturing activities.

Preferred Skills

  • Manufacturing Systems Knowledge: Familiarity with manufacturing-specific software (e.g., MES, SCADA, ERP systems) and how IT integrates with these systems.
  • Automation & IoT Experience: Understanding of automation, IoT devices, and their integration into IT systems within a manufacturing plant.
  • Certifications: ITIL, Cisco, or other relevant certifications would be a plus.
