Senior Specialist - Cloud Engineering

Role summary

Platform Engineer Cloud Infrastructure Operations with 12 years of experience responsible for the reliability, resilience, and operational health of enterprise platforms running on GCP and hybrid infrastructure. Accountable for production readiness through strong NFRs, monitoring, and incident response, including vulnerability remediation and patching, as well as robust backup/DR. Improves operational efficiency through automation and supports Kubernetes GKE services with strong Windows and Linux administration capability.

Key responsibilities

Own service readiness and operational governance by defining and tracking NFRs, leading operational readiness reviews, and maintaining runbooks, SOPs, and other operational artefacts

Deliver reliability, resilience, and continuity through backup/restore and DR planning, regular testing and validation of RTOR/RPO targets, and driving remediation and improvement actions

Operate monitoring and observability to enable effective incident response, major incident triage, service restoration, RCA, and problem management, including continuous reduction of operational noise and instability

Lead security operations covering vulnerability management and patching across Windows and Linux OS and platform components, prioritizing remediation by risk and producing audit-ready evidence

Run and improve GCP and Kubernetes (GKE) platform operations, including cluster lifecycle upgrades, node pools, addons, capacity/availability management, troubleshooting workloads and release issues, and applying cloud fundamentals such as IAM, networking, and logging/monitoring

Reduce toil through automation for operational checks, patch orchestration, reporting, and evidence capture using PowerShell, Bash, Ansible, and Python

Required skills experience

12 years experience in platform engineering, infrastructure/cloud operations, SRE, or production support with strong production support discipline, incident/problem/change management

Hands-on experience operating GCP infrastructure at scale with solid understanding of IAM, networking, and observability

Strong Kubernetes experience, ideally GKE, including cluster lifecycle management and troubleshooting

Strong Windows and Linux administration experience including patching, troubleshooting, and operational hygiene

Proven scripting/automation capability using PowerShell, Bash, Ansible, and Python

Experience producing high-quality operational documentation and support evidence desirable: IaC (e.g., Terraform), CI/CD for container platforms, container security practices, and working knowledge of Java for JVM-based service support
