We are seeking highly skilled Python developers to contribute to our network automation project. In this role, you will design and implement tools and frameworks that facilitate the inspection of telecom network nodes, automate operational tasks on Kubernetes workloads, and continuously monitor network health from Layer 1 through Layer 7. This initiative aims to minimize manual intervention in network operations while providing teams with real-time, automated insights into network performance and status.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, enhance, and maintain Python-based automation solutions for network and cloud-native environments.
- Establish connections to network devices and servers (including routers, switches, core and RAN nodes, VMs, and bare-metal servers) via SSH, REST, gNMI/NETCONF, SNMP, and CLI tools to assess their health.
- Automate Kubernetes processes such as pod management (restart, scale, drain, rollout), log collection, diagnostics, and configuration validation, utilizing the Kubernetes Python client, kubectl, and Helm.
- Implement comprehensive monitoring and availability assessments across the OSI model layers:
- L1/L2: interface status, link status, optical power levels, VLANs, MAC addresses
- L3/L4: IP connectivity, routing protocols, BGP/OSPF states, ping/traceroute, port, and TCP/UDP checks
- L5–L7: session integrity, DNS, TLS/SSL, HTTP/HTTPS, API endpoints, and application-level services
- Integrate with monitoring and observability platforms such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/EFK, and Alertmanager to generate alerts, dashboards, and performance reports.
- Parse and normalize various network data formats, including CLI outputs, JSON, XML, and YANG models, using tools like TextFSM, Jinja2, NAPALM, Netmiko, or equivalent.
- Write CI/CD-compatible, testable code with comprehensive logging, error handling, and documentation.
- Collaborate with network engineers, Site Reliability Engineers (SREs), and DevOps teams to automate manual runbooks and workflows.
- Provide troubleshooting support and perform root cause analysis for network and platform incidents.
Required Skills:
- Extensive Python programming experience (version 3.8+), including proficiency with asyncio, multithreading, Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), packaging, and unit testing frameworks like pytest.
- Practical experience with Kubernetes, including pods, deployments, services, namespaces, CNI plugins, and troubleshooting; familiarity with the Kubernetes Python client is advantageous.
- Experience with AI tools such as Claude is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of networking fundamentals and the OSI model (Layers 1–7), including TCP/IP, routing, switching, DNS, load balancing, TLS, and HTTP.
- Knowledge of telecom network concepts including 4G/5G core, RAN, transport networks, and network functions (CNFs/VNFs).
- Familiarity with network automation tools and protocols such as Netmiko, Paramiko, NAPALM, Scrapli, SNMP, NETCONF/RESTCONF, and gNMI.
- Proficiency in Linux, shell scripting, and version control systems like Git.
- Experience working with REST APIs and integrating with monitoring or ticketing platforms.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, and OpenTelemetry.
- Knowledge of containerization and orchestration tools including Docker, Helm, Ansible, Terraform, and CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI).
- Exposure to telco cloud platforms like OpenShift, Wind River, VMware Telco Cloud.
- Understanding of 5G core components such as AMF, SMF, UPF, as well as IMS, Diameter, SIP, and GTP protocols.
- Skills in packet analysis tools like Wireshark and tcpdump, along with network testing utilities such as iperf and nmap.
- Experience with cloud services (AWS, Azure, GCP) and familiarity with AIOps and machine learning-based anomaly detection.
- Relevant certifications including CKA/CKAD, CCNA/CCNP, or Python/DevOps certifications.
