Job Description

Job Description

In This Role, You Will Own Key Responsibilities Across Emerson’s Salesforce Platform:

Platform Ownership, Roadmap & Governance

  • Lead the long-term health, strategic direction, and enterprise roadmap for Emerson’s Salesforce platform across implementation, stabilization, and continuous improvement phases
  • Convert Business Group capability requirements into a prioritized Salesforce platform roadmap that aligns global standardization with locally justified flexibility
  • Collaborate with the Architecture Review Board, Salesforce Center of Excellence, and workstream teams to implement platform governance, design standards, release discipline, and decision rights
  • Track platform limits, org health, release impacts, adoption risks, technical debt, and configuration complexity—escalating issues early to prevent delivery or operational blockers
  • Maintain a transparent intake, prioritization, and release governance process for enhancements, new Salesforce products, and enterprise-level platform changes

Commercial, Vendor & License Stewardship

  • Manage Salesforce licenses, entitlements, usage, renewals, and vendor commercial relationships to ensure Emerson receives full value from its Salesforce investments
  • Represent Emerson in Salesforce customer councils, strategic account conversations, product roadmap discussions, and partner governance forums
  • Assess new Salesforce capabilities and ecosystem tools using business value, platform fit, cost, risk, and enterprise readiness criteria
  • Partner with Procurement, Legal, Finance, Security, and IT leadership on commercial agreements, compliance responsibilities, and vendor performance expectations

Compliance, Security & Enterprise Alignment

  • Ensure Salesforce platform operations align with Emerson security policies, data governance frameworks, audit requirements, regulatory obligations, and enterprise architecture standards
  • Work with Security, Data, and Architecture leaders on access models, data protection, sandbox strategy, release controls, and operational risk management
  • Establish platform-level operating metrics and executive reporting covering platform health, adoption, compliance, cost, releases, support performance, and backlog visibility
  • Create resilient platform operating practices that limit customization sprawl, safeguard the global template, and enable a sustainable internal ownership model

Who You Are:

You combine strategic Salesforce platform ownership with hands-on operational rigor (Strategic Mindset; Drives Results). You evaluate competing Business Group needs, vendor input, compliance requirements, and technical constraints—then turn them into a practical platform roadmap (Manages Complexity; Decision Quality). You articulate platform priorities in business terms, earn trust with senior stakeholders, and influence teams through credibility rather than position (Communicates Effectively; Collaborates; Interpersonal Savvy). You take governance seriously, while staying pragmatic—supporting business momentum when risks are understood and decisions are transparent (Balances Stakeholders; Ensures Accountability).

For This Role, You Will Need:

Technical Skills:

  • Salesforce platform administration, configuration, security, release management, sandbox strategy, and org health monitoring
  • License management, entitlement tracking, vendor governance, and commercial stewardship for enterprise software platforms
  • Multi-org governance, platform limits, technical debt management, release intake, and environment strategy
  • Working knowledge of the Salesforce product portfolio, including Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Data Cloud, Agentforce, Manufacturing Cloud, and partner ecosystem tools
  • Security and compliance frameworks applicable to enterprise platforms, including SOX, GDPR, data residency, audit readiness, and access controls

Interpersonal and Leadership Skills:

  • Executive-level communication and platform storytelling for CIO, commercial, finance, and Business Group stakeholders
  • A governance approach with pragmatic flexibility and the ability to make well-balanced decisions between standardization and local fit
  • Cross-functional influence without direct authority across business, IT, Architecture, Security, Data, Procurement, Legal, and vendor teams
  • Strategic planning orientation with the ability to connect platform investments to enterprise outcomes and measurable business value
  • Operational discipline, transparency, and confidence managing competing priorities across a complex global deployment

Required Certifications:

  • Salesforce Administrator certification
  • Salesforce Advanced Administrator, Platform App Builder, or Salesforce product certifications valued

Preferred / Nice-to-Have:

  • Experience managing Salesforce platforms in manufacturing, industrial, or B2B environments
  • Multi-org Salesforce governance experience at global enterprise scale
  • Experience with Salesforce Data Cloud, Agentforce, Manufacturing Cloud, or SPIFF
  • Prior ownership of platform health scorecards, operating models, vendor scorecards, or enterprise application governance boards
  • Experience establishing or maturing a Salesforce Center of Excellence

Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:

  • Bachelor's degree required in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, Engineering, or a related field; Master's degree or MBA preferred
  • 8+ years of Salesforce platform management, administration, product ownership, or enterprise application leadership experience
  • Proven experience governing Salesforce across a complex, global, multi-business environment
  • Experience managing platform roadmaps, release governance, vendor relationships, licensing, compliance, and operational metrics
  • Strong understanding of Salesforce administration, security, release management, sandbox strategy, and enterprise platform lifecycle management
  • Approximately 10-20% travel (global)
