Role Overview Description
We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join our fast-growing data team. This role focuses on building robust, scalable, and efficient data pipelines and supporting business intelligence reporting across the organization. If you're passionate about clean architecture, data governance, and working on high-impact systems in the FinTech spacewe want to hear from you.
You will be instrumental in reducing technical debt, optimizing our data environment, and enabling smarter business decisions through better data structuring.
Key Responsibilities
- Refactor and optimize existing ETL pipelines for scalability and performance
- Restructure and model data for improved business reporting and analytics
- Lead efforts in data anonymization to ensure compliance with data privacy regulations
- Address and reduce technical debt in the current data engineering landscape
- Identify and clean up outdated code, unused tables, and inefficient data flows
- Collaborate cross-functionally with BI, Product, and Engineering teams to understand requirements and deliver end-to-end solutions
- Contribute to tooling improvements and internal automation for data team operations
What Were Looking For
Technical Skills:
- Expertise in Python (90%) for ETL and data pipeline development
- Solid experience with Apache Kafka for real-time data streaming
- Proficient in SQL and Databricks for data wrangling and performance tuning
- Exposure to Scala (10%) and distributed computing with Apache Spark
- Familiarity with data orchestration tools like Airflow, Google Composer, or equivalent
Experience:
- 56+ years in data engineering or a related field
- Prior experience working with European clients, ideally in a FinTech or finance-related domain
- Strong understanding of data sensitivity, compliance, and privacy standards in the financial sector
- Comfortable working in remote or hybrid distributed teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with cloud platforms like GCP or AWS
- Exposure to Terraform, GitLab CI/CD, or similar infrastructure-as-code tools
- Familiarity with business intelligence tools such as Redash, PowerBI, or Looker
- Strong communication skills and ability to work independently
