Senior Backup Administrator

Position Overview:

• We are looking for a proficient Backup Engineer with a strong background in Commvault, AWS Cloud, and Python scripting to oversee enterprise backup and recovery systems.
• The selected candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining data protection, ensuring disaster recovery preparedness, automating backup processes, optimizing storage, and ensuring compliance across both on-premises and cloud environments.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Backup Management
• Administer and manage the Commvault backup infrastructure
• Set up, monitor, and resolve issues related to backup and restore functions
• Conduct recovery tasks for servers, file systems, databases, and applications
• Oversee backup policies, schedules, retention, and lifecycle management
• Execute regular disaster recovery and restoration tests
• Ensure adherence to established RPO and RTO standards
• AWS Backup Cloud Management
• Administer AWS backup solutions for EC2, EBS, RDS, Aurora, FSx, and S3 workloads
• Deploy snapshot agent-based and cloud-native backup methodologies
• Establish IAM roles, encryption, and security protocols for backup tasks
• Facilitate cross-region and cross-account backup and recovery options
• Optimize cloud storage expenditures through lifecycle policies and tiered storage
• Automation and Python Scripting
• Create Python scripts for

• Automate recurring operational tasks to minimize manual inputs
• Integrate backup processes with monitoring and ticketing systems

• Manage critical incidents and maintain SLA compliance
• Produce operational and management reports
• Collaborate closely with infrastructure, database, application, and cloud teams
• Security Compliance
• Implement backup encryption and measures against ransomware attacks
• Assist in compliance audits and data retention mandates
• Maintain immutable backup copies and controls for cyber resiliency
• Ensure compliance with organizational security policies

Additional Qualifications:

• Education
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
• A minimum of 7 years' experience in enterprise backup administration
• Experience with hybrid cloud infrastructures
• AWS and Commvault certifications are highly desirable
