Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Precast Design & Development:
  • Design precast concrete components (e.g., walls, floors, beams, columns, facades) for residential buildings based on project requirements, safety standards, and regulatory codes.
  • Collaborate with architects and structural engineers to develop and review the design of precast elements, ensuring they meet design specifications, client needs, and construction schedules.
  • Develop detailed drawings, technical specifications, and material lists for precast elements, using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit).
  • Perform structural analysis to ensure that precast components can withstand required loads and forces, following relevant standards (e.g., IS 3370, ACI, Eurocodes).
  1. Manufacturing & Production Coordination:
  • Oversee the production process of precast concrete elements, ensuring that materials, forms, and casting procedures align with project specifications.
  • Ensure that the manufacturing facility is properly set up, and materials are procured in a timely manner to avoid delays in production schedules.
  • Coordinate with the production team to ensure quality control processes are followed, from the initial casting to curing and finishing stages.
  • Conduct regular inspections and tests on precast components to ensure they meet design and quality standards, as well as local building codes.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any issues that arise during the production process to ensure timely and high-quality delivery of precast elements.
  1. Installation & Site Coordination:
  • Oversee the installation of precast concrete components on-site, ensuring that they are positioned, anchored, and connected according to design specifications.
  • Coordinate with site engineers, contractors, and subcontractors to schedule and manage the timely delivery and installation of precast components.
  • Ensure that appropriate handling, lifting, and safety protocols are followed during the transportation and installation of precast elements.
  • Inspect the installation process to ensure that all components are correctly positioned and aligned, and resolve any issues or discrepancies that arise during installation.
  1. Quality Control & Compliance:
  • Develop and implement quality control procedures to monitor the precast production and installation processes, ensuring that all components meet the required standards and specifications.
  • Conduct regular quality assurance audits and site inspections to ensure that the precast elements are installed correctly and comply with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of all quality checks, inspections, and tests for regulatory compliance and project reporting purposes.
  • Address any non-conformities and initiate corrective actions as needed to resolve quality issues.
  1. Cost Management & Scheduling:
  • Work closely with the project manager to develop and monitor budgets for the precast portion of the project, ensuring that costs are kept within established limits.
  • Assist in preparing cost estimates and tracking material usage and production costs to ensure the precast work remains within the project budget.
  • Develop and manage production and installation schedules, ensuring timely delivery of precast elements to meet construction deadlines.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings in the design, production, and installation phases and recommend solutions to enhance project efficiency.
  1. Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance:
  • Ensure that all precast design, production, and installation activities comply with relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Promote a culture of safety in the precast manufacturing and installation process, conducting regular safety audits and ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
  • Ensure that the precast elements are designed and manufactured in an environmentally sustainable manner, minimizing waste and ensuring compliance with sustainability guidelines.
  1. Team Leadership & Collaboration:
  • Lead and mentor a team of engineers, drafters, and technicians involved in the precast design, production, and installation processes.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including architects, structural engineers, and project managers, to ensure alignment and smooth integration of precast elements into the overall project.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to the production and site teams to resolve issues related to precast elements during construction.
  1. Documentation & Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate records of all precast design, production, quality control, and installation activities.
  • Prepare regular progress reports for senior management and clients, addressing any challenges or delays and proposing solutions.
  • Ensure that all necessary documentation is provided for regulatory compliance, including test reports, inspection logs, and material certifications.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in precast concrete design, production, and installation, with a focus on residential construction projects.
  • Industry Expertise: Experience in residential building projects involving precast concrete elements (walls, floors, facades, etc.) is highly preferred.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Precast Concrete Expertise: Strong knowledge of precast concrete design, production techniques, and installation practices.
  • Project Management: Proven ability to manage precast-related activities, including scheduling, budgeting, and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit) for design and drafting of precast components.
  • Quality Control & Assurance: Strong understanding of quality control processes and standards for precast concrete production and installation.
  • Safety & Compliance Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of safety regulations, building codes, and environmental standards related to precast concrete.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to address issues effectively during the design, production, and installation stages.
  • Team Leadership: Ability to lead and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, providing technical guidance and mentorship.
