Precast Concrete
Project Management
Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
- Precast Design & Development:
- Design precast concrete components (e.g., walls, floors, beams, columns, facades) for residential buildings based on project requirements, safety standards, and regulatory codes.
- Collaborate with architects and structural engineers to develop and review the design of precast elements, ensuring they meet design specifications, client needs, and construction schedules.
- Develop detailed drawings, technical specifications, and material lists for precast elements, using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit).
- Perform structural analysis to ensure that precast components can withstand required loads and forces, following relevant standards (e.g., IS 3370, ACI, Eurocodes).
- Manufacturing & Production Coordination:
- Oversee the production process of precast concrete elements, ensuring that materials, forms, and casting procedures align with project specifications.
- Ensure that the manufacturing facility is properly set up, and materials are procured in a timely manner to avoid delays in production schedules.
- Coordinate with the production team to ensure quality control processes are followed, from the initial casting to curing and finishing stages.
- Conduct regular inspections and tests on precast components to ensure they meet design and quality standards, as well as local building codes.
- Troubleshoot and resolve any issues that arise during the production process to ensure timely and high-quality delivery of precast elements.
- Installation & Site Coordination:
- Oversee the installation of precast concrete components on-site, ensuring that they are positioned, anchored, and connected according to design specifications.
- Coordinate with site engineers, contractors, and subcontractors to schedule and manage the timely delivery and installation of precast components.
- Ensure that appropriate handling, lifting, and safety protocols are followed during the transportation and installation of precast elements.
- Inspect the installation process to ensure that all components are correctly positioned and aligned, and resolve any issues or discrepancies that arise during installation.
- Quality Control & Compliance:
- Develop and implement quality control procedures to monitor the precast production and installation processes, ensuring that all components meet the required standards and specifications.
- Conduct regular quality assurance audits and site inspections to ensure that the precast elements are installed correctly and comply with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain thorough documentation of all quality checks, inspections, and tests for regulatory compliance and project reporting purposes.
- Address any non-conformities and initiate corrective actions as needed to resolve quality issues.
- Cost Management & Scheduling:
- Work closely with the project manager to develop and monitor budgets for the precast portion of the project, ensuring that costs are kept within established limits.
- Assist in preparing cost estimates and tracking material usage and production costs to ensure the precast work remains within the project budget.
- Develop and manage production and installation schedules, ensuring timely delivery of precast elements to meet construction deadlines.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings in the design, production, and installation phases and recommend solutions to enhance project efficiency.
- Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance:
- Ensure that all precast design, production, and installation activities comply with relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Promote a culture of safety in the precast manufacturing and installation process, conducting regular safety audits and ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
- Ensure that the precast elements are designed and manufactured in an environmentally sustainable manner, minimizing waste and ensuring compliance with sustainability guidelines.
- Team Leadership & Collaboration:
- Lead and mentor a team of engineers, drafters, and technicians involved in the precast design, production, and installation processes.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including architects, structural engineers, and project managers, to ensure alignment and smooth integration of precast elements into the overall project.
- Provide technical support and guidance to the production and site teams to resolve issues related to precast elements during construction.
- Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of all precast design, production, quality control, and installation activities.
- Prepare regular progress reports for senior management and clients, addressing any challenges or delays and proposing solutions.
- Ensure that all necessary documentation is provided for regulatory compliance, including test reports, inspection logs, and material certifications.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in precast concrete design, production, and installation, with a focus on residential construction projects.
- Industry Expertise: Experience in residential building projects involving precast concrete elements (walls, floors, facades, etc.) is highly preferred.
