Performance Testing Consultant (Mid Level)

Job Description:

• As an experienced Consultant specializing in performance testing, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our clients' most vital applications operate efficiently, are reliable, and are prepared for growth.
• You will work in close partnership with architects, developers, platform infrastructure teams, and business stakeholders to translate performance requirements into implementable test strategies and engineering solutions.
• This position allows you to engage with a variety of cloud-native and enterprise systems, utilizing leading tools such as LoadRunner, Dynatrace, AppDynamics, and Splunk to identify performance bottlenecks and drive significant enhancements.
• You will lead discussions on performance strategy, clarify any ambiguous requirements, and convert them into quantifiable workloads, SLAs, SLOs, KPIs, and success criteria.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, plan, and implement comprehensive performance test strategies, including load, stress, endurance, and scalability tests for intricate enterprise and cloud-based applications.
• Create, parameterize, and sustain robust LoadRunner scripts, scenarios, and workloads that align with business usage patterns, incorporating advanced correlation, parameterization, think time modeling, error handling, custom logic, and data-driven frameworks.
• Conduct thorough performance analysis using Dynatrace and other monitoring tools to pinpoint bottlenecks across application, database, network, and infrastructure layers.
• Collaborate with architects, developers, platform infrastructure, and operations teams to establish performance scope, SLAs, SLOs, KPIs, and success criteria, interpret performance findings, diagnose root causes, and recommend tuning and optimization strategies.
• Oversee performance engineering activities, including capacity planning, sizing, and performance modeling for both on-premise and cloud environments, with a strong emphasis on microservices, REST APIs, asynchronous workflows, and batch processing.
• Execute cloud performance testing across major platforms, validating autoscaling, elasticity, resilience, SLAs, non-functional requirements, and assessing limits, requests, node saturation, and cluster-level constraints.
• Generate clear, data-driven performance reports, dashboards, and presentations for both technical and business stakeholders, articulating complex technical insights in a straightforward and relevant manner.
• Advise project teams on performance best practices throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and support early-stage performance testing approaches, including requirements clarification and risk identification.
• Mentor less experienced team members in performance testing methodologies, tool usage, and analytical techniques, promoting a culture of ownership and self-direction within the team.
• Independently pinpoint performance tasks, outline methodologies, and carry out performance engagements from start to finish, including test plan development, scenario design, data modeling, and dashboard configuration.
• Lead performance analysis and bottleneck detection across the entire stack—application, JVM, GC, database, infrastructure, and container platforms—proactively providing actionable tuning recommendations.

Technical Requirements:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• Hands-on experience in performance testing and performance engineering for web or enterprise applications.
• Strong proficiency in LoadRunner for scripting, scenario design, execution, and analysis.
• Demonstrated experience in comprehensive performance testing, including load, stress, endurance, and spike testing, along with test planning and execution.
• Solid foundation in performance engineering, encompassing bottleneck identification, tuning recommendations, and capacity planning.
• Practical experience utilizing Dynatrace or similar Application Performance Management (APM) tools for monitoring, tracing, and root cause analysis during performance assessments.
• Hands-on experience with cloud performance testing for applications deployed in public or private cloud environments.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with cross-functional teams and clients.
