Job Description
- Assist the Executive Chef in managing daily bakery operations and staff supervision
- Develop and implement new recipes and menu items, focusing on both traditional and innovative baked goods
- Ensure consistent quality and presentation of all bakery products
- Train and mentor junior bakers and pastry chefs
- Maintain inventory and order supplies as needed
- Uphold strict food safety and sanitation standards
- Collaborate with other kitchen departments to create cohesive menu offerings
- Participate in menu planning, cost control, and budgeting for the bakery department
- Stay current with industry trends and incorporate new techniques and flavors into the menu
- Culinary degree or diploma with a focus on baking and pastry arts
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a professional bakery or pastry kitchen
- Previous experience in a leadership role (e. g. , Head Baker, Pastry Chef)
- Advanced knowledge of baking and pastry techniques, including bread making, cake decorating, and confectionery
- Proficiency in menu planning, recipe development, and cost control
- Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation practices, with current Food Safety Certification
- Excellent knowledge of dietary restrictions and allergen management
- Proficient in operating and maintaining various kitchen and bakery equipment
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Creativity and passion for creating innovative baked goods and pastries
- Flexibility to work early morning shifts, weekends, and holidays as required
