Packaging Technician - Level I
Job Description
Under close supervision, the Packaging Technician supports site packaging operations by executing packing and re-packing activities, maintaining work area organization, and reporting opportunities for improvement in packaging materials, equipment, or processes. The role contributes to cross-functional teams addressing packaging-related concerns impacting safety, quality, and production efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Tasks
- Perform packaging and repackaging of products according to established methods and training.
- Sort, count, and prepare inventory for returnable packaging programs.
- Execute tasks related to returnable packaging control, including preparation and shipment to suppliers.
- Identify and report non-conformance issues with packaging materials or processes.
- Record packaging-specific data, including Global PDS work for EBU plants.
- Support global packaging programs including VPI supplier parts alignment (M0M5).
Continuous Improvement
- Participate in packaging-related continuous improvement initiatives.
- Actively contribute to enhancing quality, safety, material flow, and overall packaging process performance.
Health, Safety Environmental (HSE)
- Stop work and report hazards or incidents immediately.
- Comply with all HSE standards, policies, and regulations.
- Use appropriate PPE and engage in hazard identification and correction.
- Minimize environmental impact of work and promote safe practices.
Quality and Compliance
- Follow all standard work, work instructions, and quality procedures.
- Report and raise issues to prevent quality and cost exposure.
- Identify non-conforming materials and ensure compliance with export control/sanctions regulations where applicable.
Teamwork and Communication
- Maintain clear communication with team members and support staff.

Education, Licenses/Certifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (required).
- Packaging diploma or post-graduation from Indian Institute of Packaging (IIP) preferred.
- Must have or be able to obtain certification for operating powered industrial vehicles (e.g., reach trucks, pallet riders).
- Compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations may require licensing.
Experience
- 0-2 years of experience.
- Prior work in automotive, manufacturing, or packaging industry preferred.
