OBD2 Testing Engineer with HIL/SIL Testing

The Diagnostic & OBD Validation Engineer will be responsible for validating diagnostic functionalities, OBD2/UDS requirements, and DTC implementations across SiL/HIL/vehicle platforms. The role requires strong analytical ability, hands-on validation experience, and a deep understanding of automotive diagnostics, regulations, and communication protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

• Validate component-specific diagnostic, OBD2, OBDonUDS, and ZEVonUDS requirements.
• Create detailed test specifications and test plans aligned with product, customer, quality, and regulatory needs.
• Perform component defect analysis and support resolution activities.
• Validate diagnostic behaviors and DTC implementations in SiL environments.
• Independently plan, execute, and review validation tasks as a fully contributing team member.
• Troubleshoot issues, identify root causes, and provide timely technical support.
• Contribute ideas for improving processes, efficiency, and overall test coverage.

Technical Skills:

• Experience in one or more of the following:
• a) Validation of Diagnostics/OBD2 requirements on vehicle, HIL, or SiL
• b) Specification or certification of OBD2 requirements for ECUs
• c) Calibration of OBD2/diagnostic parameters
• Knowledge of communication protocols such as CAN, UDS, and FlexRay
• Knowledge of diagnostics, OBD concepts, and CARB regulatory requirements
• Understanding of automotive components including transmission, electric drive systems, battery chargers, and HV components

Preferred Knowledge:

• Familiarity with automotive validation tools and diagnostic development workflows
• Exposure to DTC implementation methodologies and regulatory compliance testing
