NetApp & Azure Storage Administrator (Migration Specialist)

We’re looking for a seasoned Storage Administrator to take ownership of NetApp ONTAP operations and to lead large-scale storage migrations from on‑premises environments to Azure. In this role, you will manage day-to-day storage activities for NAS/SAN systems, design and implement Azure-based storage services (including ANF, CVO, Azure Files/Blob), and drive data migration while prioritizing performance, security, availability, and cost.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer and optimize NetApp ONTAP platforms (AFF/FAS, HA pairs, SVMs, volumes/qtrees, LUNs, QoS, dedupe/compression).
• Plan and execute on‑prem → Azure migrations using SnapMirror, BlueXP (Cloud Manager), NetApp XCP, DataBox/Azure Migrate, and related tooling.
• Design and support Azure storage services including Azure NetApp Files (ANF), Cloud Volumes ONTAP (CVO), Azure Files/Blob, Private Endpoints, ExpressRoute/VPN.
• Implement backup and disaster recovery using SnapMirror/SVM-DR, SnapVault, SnapCenter; align with Azure site recovery patterns and meet defined RPO/RTO objectives.
• Automate storage provisioning and operations using PowerShell/Python, ONTAP REST API, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) with Terraform/Bicep.
• Monitor and tune storage performance with Active IQ Unified Manager, Cloud Insights, and Azure Monitor/Log Analytics.
• Apply security best practices, including RBAC, NVE/NSE, encryption with Key Vault (CMEK), SMB/NFS ACLs, and least-privilege access.
• Contribute to change, incident, and problem management using ITIL processes; support capacity planning and cost optimization (FinOps).
• Produce documentation and runbooks, mentor L2/L1 teams, and participate in an on-call rotation. 

Required Skills & Experience

• 5–8+ years of experience with NetApp ONTAP (AFF/FAS), NAS/SAN (NFS/SMB/iSCSI), SnapMirror/SnapVault, SnapCenter, and Active IQ Unified Manager.
• Hands-on experience with Azure storage, including at least one of ANF or CVO, plus Azure Files and Blob; networking (VNets, Private Endpoints, ExpressRoute); and IAM (Entra ID).
• Proven experience migrating petabyte-/hundreds-of-terabytes-scale datasets to Azure with minimal downtime.
• Scripting and automation skills using PowerShell or Python, and experience with Terraform/Bicep/ARM.
• Strong understanding of performance (IOPS/latency/throughput), capacity planning, and HA/DR.
• Ability to create strong documentation, communicate effectively with stakeholders, and maintain disciplined change management practices. 

Preferred Qualifications

• Kubernetes storage experience (Astra Trident with AKS), including FlexGroup volumes.
• Experience with Veeam/Commvault, Azure Backup, and StorageGRID.
• Knowledge of compliance frameworks (SOX/PCI/HIPAA) and encryption using KMS/Key Vault.
• Certifications: NetApp NCDA/NCIE, Microsoft Azure (AZ‑104/305/900), ITIL v4, and Terraform Associate. 

Success Metrics (KPIs)

• Storage uptime and SLA adherence, plus MTTR for P1/P2 incidents.
• Successful migration cutovers (no data loss), achievement of throughput vs. plan targets, and meeting RPO/RTO requirements.
• Performance outcomes (for example, <2–4 ms latency for critical tiers) and accuracy of capacity forecasts.
• Cost optimization through right-sizing tiers/QoS and LRS-ZRS-GRS storage selection, along with coverage of automation efforts.
