Medical Coder

Principal Purpose of Job: The Medical Coder is responsible for accurately translating medical documentation into standardized codes, playing a crucial role in Cotiviti's mission to improve healthcare economics. This position ensures the integrity of health information used for claims processing, risk adjustment, quality reporting, and data analysis.

Job Responsibilities:

• Accurately assign ICD, CPT, HCPCS, and DRG codes based on clinical documentation.
• Review and interpret patient medical records, including physician notes, operative reports, and diagnostic results.
• Ensure coding compliance with industry standards, government regulations, and client-specific guidelines.
• Collaborate with internal teams to clarify documentation and support accurate coding.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding guidelines, conventions, and regulations.
• Participate in quality assurance activities and contribute to process improvements.
• Identify and report coding discrepancies or issues as needed.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in any stream (preferably Life Science).
• Certified Professional Coder (CPC) from the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) is preferred.
• Knowledge of HCPCS, ICD, CPT, and DRG.
• Knowledge of ICD-10 coding is preferred.
• Ability to work from the office environment.
