Job Description

What you will do

  • Select materials for routine applications including establishing appropriate materials specifications and QA/QC practices under senior engineers guidance.
  • Review contractor s HMBs, PFDs, UFDs, and PIDs to assist with materials selection.
  • Use common corrosion prediction models, perform basic corrosion calculations, and use corrosion design curves as support to material selection optimization.
  • Develop or review of Materials design basis or Material selection philosophy, Manufacturer s MPS and ITP, including developing improvement recommendations.
  • Influence contractors/vendors to implement company design expectations and specifications.
  • Provide resolution to materials deviation requests from EPCs and operating organizations.
  • Perform life cycle cost calculations to validate materials selection decisions, including options for carbon or low alloy steels with corrosion management.
  • Conduct or supervise predictive corrosion modelling for simple or routine situations, including determining input values/cases and running sensitivities to validate how changes to key parameters affect modelled rates.
  • Participate in discussions with EPC contractors/vendors/fabricators to plan, implement, or troubleshoot field construction or shop fabrication.
  • Review welding procedure and consumable selection to determine suitability for common applications and conformance with company specifications, industry codes and standards.
  • Assess and provided recommendations to resolve issues related to materials degradation at operating facilities.

About You

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor s or Master s degree in Materials Science/Materials Engineering or related disciplines from a recognized university.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Materials Engineering in the oil gas industry projects.
  • Demonstrated work experience and knowledge in materials selection, corrosion assessment/control, welding/fabrication, and inspection/testing in support of facilities design.
  • Should not have attended an interview for Materials Engineer position in the last 1 year at ExxonMobil.

Preferred Qualifications/Experiences

  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities and stakeholders.
  • Strong verbal/written communication skills in English, adaptability/interpersonal skills.
  • Work shift is normally in the afternoon shift (01:30 pm to 10:30 pm) with flexibility to meet business needs.
  • Flexibility to travel internationally as per business needs.
