Lead Designer - Senior Lead Designer - Mechanical (BIM)

Overview

We are seeking an experienced BIM Modeller / Engineer with strong experience in Water and Wastewater infrastructure projects. In this role, you will develop, coordinate, and deliver high-quality BIM models using Revit & Plant 3D (for intelligent P&IDs), supporting multidisciplinary design teams while ensuring compliance with project BIM standards.

As part of our Water Business team, you will help deliver advanced engineering solutions for water infrastructure projects. We design and manage complex systems that support sustainable water supply, treatment, and distribution.

We use Building Information Modeling (BIM) to strengthen collaboration, improve design accuracy, and optimize project delivery across the entire lifecycle—from concept and planning through construction and operation. BIM helps us integrate civil, structural, and mechanical elements efficiently, supporting cost effectiveness and reducing risk.

Your Role

• Develop all basic drawings including Site Layouts, Piping Layouts, PFDs, and Piping & Instrumentation diagrams.
• Develop and manage BIM models for different units of water and wastewater treatment plants using Revit software and Plant 3D for P&IDs.
• Extract Mechanical GA drawings from 3D models.
• Ensure BIM deliverables comply with project standards, BEP, and client requirements.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams (civil, structural, mechanical, electrical).
• Carry out clash detection and model coordination, and resolve issues collaboratively.
• Extract drawings, quantities, schedules, and reports from BIM models.
• Support project teams during design reviews and technical discussions.
• Mentor junior BIM staff and provide technical guidance (for senior-level candidates).
• Contribute to BIM process improvements, automation, and implementation of best practices.
  
  

About You

• Diploma or bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or an equivalent technical discipline, with 5 years and up to 15 years of relevant BIM experience in Water / Utilities projects.
• Strong practical experience with Autodesk Plant 3D & Revit.
• Good understanding of water and wastewater treatment plants.
• Utility coordination and underground services
• BIM workflows and data management
• Experience delivering UK / Middle East / International water projects is preferred.
• Ability to work independently and within a collaborative BIM team.
• Knowledge of ACC / ProjectWise, Navisworks, and clash detection workflows.
• Exposure to scripting or automation (Dynamo, Lisp, etc.) is added advantage.
• Strong communication and coordination skills.
• Attention to detail and a quality-focused approach.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet project deadlines.
