Job Description
Job Overview:
- We are looking for skilled Mechanical Integrity Engineers with a solid background in Stress Analysis and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to guarantee the durability and reliability of aerospace components.
- This position entails comprehensive mechanical analysis across various engine commodities and encompasses the entire product development lifecycle, from initial concept through to in-service support and eventual disposal.
Primary Duties:
- Primary Responsibilities
- Conduct stress analysis and FEA simulations to verify the mechanical integrity of components, including fans, compressors, casings, combustors, turbines, and related structures.
- Utilize FEA software such as Abaqus, Ansys, and LS Dyna to forecast mechanical behavior under diverse loading conditions, including fatigue, both low and high cycle, creep, vibration, thermal loads, and extreme operational scenarios such as blade-out and overspeed events.
- Perform mechanical integrity evaluations to ensure product resilience and adherence to design specifications.
- Enhance in-service engine safety through thorough stress analysis and mechanical assessments.
- Lead Design of Experiments (DoE) and mechanical testing initiatives to corroborate stress predictions and enhance design reliability.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure designs meet performance, manufacturability, cost, and weight criteria.
- Establish and implement analysis plans that align with project timelines, budget, and quality standards.
- Propose design improvements based on Robust Engineering principles and insights from stress analysis.
- Promote continuous enhancement in FEA methodologies, stress analysis practices, and mechanical integrity tools.
- Serve as a subject matter expert in stress analysis and FEA, disseminating knowledge across engineering disciplines.
Technical Qualifications:
- Required Technical Skills
- Extensive experience in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) utilizing tools like Abaqus, Ansys, and LS Dyna.
- Expertise in stress analysis, predicting mechanical behavior, and evaluating failure mechanisms.
- Familiarity with meshing tools such as Hypermesh and Unigraphics, as well as data management systems like Teamcenter.
- Comprehensive understanding of material science, crack propagation, contact mechanics, and thermo-mechanical fatigue.
- Ability to effectively communicate intricate FEA and stress analysis results to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Knowledge of aerospace product integrity, liability, and certification standards.
Additional Qualifications:
- Education
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Structural Engineering (BE, BTech, MSc, MEng).
- 2 to 5 years of practical experience in FEA, stress analysis, and mechanical integrity within the aerospace sector or similar industries.
