Engineer - I to II | Reporting & Automation | Project Information Management

Position Overview

The Reporting & Automation Engineer plays a crucial role in facilitating digital transformation, automation, data analytics, and the management of project information for intricate capital projects. This position melds knowledge in project controls, data engineering, business intelligence, and AI-driven solutions to promote effective project execution, informed decision-making, and uniform operational methodologies.

The PIMS Engineer will assist in project initiation, create and manage Common Data Environments (CDE), craft sophisticated reporting solutions, introduce intelligent automation, and utilize AI technologies such as Microsoft Copilot and agent-based solutions. Additionally, this role includes mentoring junior staff and participating in ongoing improvement projects on a global scale.

Key Responsibilities

Management of Common Data Environments (CDE)

• Create and uphold secure, centralized, and scalable Common Data Environments.
• Ensure project information remains structured, governed, and accessible throughout the lifecycle of the project.
• Enforce data governance standards, naming conventions, workflows, and document control protocols.
• Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with organizational standards.
  
  

Project Mobilization & Digital Solutions Implementation

• Oversee project initiation and mobilization processes for project information management systems.
• Configure and implement digital tools, workflows, and reporting frameworks for new projects.
• Assist with project controls systems implementation and cross-platform integration.
• Work collaboratively with stakeholders to ensure the successful adoption of digital solutions.
  
  

Advanced Reporting, Analytics & Business Intelligence

• Design, build, and maintain enterprise-level dashboards and reports utilizing Power BI.
• Create comprehensive data models, KPIs, measures, and DAX calculations to support project controls and management reporting.
• Develop automated reporting solutions to deliver real-time project insights.
• Examine large and intricate datasets to uncover trends, risks, and opportunities.
• Produce ad hoc reports and executive dashboards to facilitate decision-making.
  
  

Standardization of Processes & Automation

• Create standardized digital solutions, templates, and workflows across projects.
• Identify and rectify manual processes through automation.
• Develop automation solutions using Power Automate, Power Apps, VBA, Python, and similar technologies.
• Implement best practices and lean methodologies to enhance operational efficiency.
• Promote continuous improvement initiatives through technology and innovation.
  
  

Project Controls & Governance

• Assist in the development and maintenance of Cost Breakdown Structures (CBS) that align with Work Breakdown Structures (WBS).
• Apply earned value management (EVM) principles, critical path methodology (CPM), schedule analysis, and risk management.
• Support project forecasting, performance measurement, and progress tracking.
• Collaborate with project teams to ensure the consistent application of governance frameworks and reporting standards.
• Provide analytical support for cost, schedule, risk, and performance management processes.
  
  

AI, Copilot & Intelligent Automation

• Design, develop, and deploy Microsoft Copilot and Copilot Studio solutions to improve project delivery.
• Create and maintain AI-driven agents that facilitate project controls, reporting, information retrieval, and knowledge management.
• Integrate AI solutions with SharePoint, Power Platform, SQL databases, Primavera P6, and enterprise systems.
• Implement Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) solutions and knowledge management systems using project data.
• Utilize generative AI capabilities for report generation, document summarization, risk analysis, and automated insights.
• Ensure AI solutions comply with governance, security, and responsible AI practices.
• Continuously assess emerging AI technologies and identify opportunities for enhancing project outcomes.
  
  

Data Engineering & Integration

• Create and sustain ETL processes to meet reporting and analytics demands.
• Oversee integrations among project management, financial, and operational systems.
• Support data warehousing, data modeling, and master data management functions.
• Guarantee data quality, availability, and performance across reporting platforms.
  
  

Candidate Profile

• Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 6-8 years of experience in Project Information Management, Digital Delivery, Project Controls, Business Intelligence, or related areas.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in Power Platform development and automation.
• Experience in supporting large-scale global projects across diverse regions.
• Strong skills in analysis, communication, presentation, and stakeholder engagement.
• Proven experience in delivering automation and digital transformation projects.
• Knowledge in Project Information Management & Controls: CDE Management, Project Mobilization, WBS/CBS Development, CPM, Earned Value Management, Cost, Risk, and Schedule Management.
• Expertise in Data Analytics & Reporting: Power BI, DAX, Data Modeling, KPI Development, Executive Dashboards, SQL, SSRS, SSAS, SSIS.
• Experience with Automation & Digital Solutions: Power Apps, Power Automate, SharePoint, Excel/VBA, Python, ETL Processes, System Integrations.
• Familiarity with AI & Emerging Technologies: Microsoft 365 Copilot, Copilot Studio, AI Agents, Azure AI Services, Prompt Engineering, RAG Solutions, Intelligent Automation.
