Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Own and continuously evolve a specific DevOps capability domain by establishing implementation patterns, defining an adoption strategy, setting technical direction, maintaining a roadmap, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Act as the primary DevOps Capability Representative and subject matter expert for the assigned product teams, delivering technical leadership, guidance on standards, architecture direction, and practical support for capability adoption.
  • Lead DevOps excellence evaluations by creating maturity baselines, evaluating current-state capabilities, defining and monitoring key performance indicators, conducting gap analyses, measuring progress toward target-state objectives, and identifying and recommending improvement opportunities.
  • Drive DevOps capability adoption across product teams by evaluating current-state maturity, pinpointing capability gaps, creating implementation backlogs, defining roadmaps, and ensuring adoption of enterprise DevOps standards.
  • Conduct application, platform, and team readiness assessments to uncover gaps in technical, operational, process, skills, and overall capability. Perform gap assessments against enterprise cloud requirements, engineering standards, architecture principles, security requirements, and DevOps standards; then define remediation plans to address identified deficiencies.
  • Lead the planning and execution of DevOps transformation and implementation initiatives, including roadmap creation, backlog setup, work prioritization, effort estimation, resource planning, budget forecasting, and coordination of day-to-day delivery.
  • Assign, lead, and support DevOps Engineers embedded within product teams to accelerate adoption of capabilities, implement standards, modernize platforms, and improve delivery performance.
  • Ensure each engagement includes structured coaching, mentoring, knowledge transfer, documentation, and capability enablement to strengthen team self-sufficiency and reduce long-term reliance on embedded DevOps support.
  • Define engagement goals, success criteria, transition plans, and exit criteria to enable successful transfer of operational ownership to product teams once the capabilities have been adopted.
  • Provide low-level solution architecture and low-level cloud architecture guidance, ensuring applications, platforms, delivery pipelines, and operational practices remain aligned with enterprise standards, architecture principles, and strategic technology direction.
  • Design, review, and contribute Infrastructure as Code (IaC), application deployment specifications, automation scripts, and reusable implementations that enhance scalability, security, reliability, and operational efficiency.
  • Lead and promote observability and monitoring practices to improve visibility into application and platform health, reliability, performance, and operational effectiveness.
  • Integrate security controls and tooling into development pipelines and partner with engineering teams to embed security throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Apply and promote DevOps best practices, industry standards, enterprise architecture principles, and approved engineering patterns across product teams and platforms.
  • Define and promote standard implementation patterns, ensuring teams use approved enterprise platforms, shared services, and reusable capabilities whenever practical and appropriate.
  • Track delivery milestones, capability adoption progress, implementation results, and team objectives, proactively identifying risks and driving corrective actions as needed.
  • Perform code reviews, architecture reviews, standards compliance reviews, and change-control assessments to identify quality, security, reliability, and compliance gaps.
  • Increase awareness and adoption of enterprise platforms, shared services, engineering capabilities, and reusable solutions available across the organization.
  • Create opportunities for experimentation, proof-of-concepts, pilot implementations, and innovation initiatives that improve engineering effectiveness, accelerate adoption, and support the ongoing evolution of DevOps capabilities.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies, industry trends, automation practices, cloud capabilities, observability approaches, and AI-driven engineering techniques, recommending solutions that improve repeatability, reliability, security, and efficiency in software delivery.
  • Demonstrate initiative, maintain a continuous learning mindset, and support the ongoing growth of the assigned DevOps capability domain.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 6+ years of experience in IT operations, DevOps, platform engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Deep expertise in at least one designated DevOps capability domain, such as CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, cloud architecture, observability and monitoring, deployment automation, platform engineering, or DevSecOps.
  • Strong technical background in DevOps practices, including cybersecurity and secure software delivery.
  • Experience with low-level solution architecture, Infrastructure as Code, low-level cloud architecture, and observability and monitoring.
  • Expert knowledge of continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD).
  • Demonstrated understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle.
  • Experience with Agile development and Scrum methodologies.
  • Strong knowledge of DevOps good practices and relevant industry standards.
  • Excellent project-management, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication, presentation, interpersonal, and stakeholder-management skills, including written and verbal communication.
  • Strong English-language skills and comfort communicating in English with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and teach technical concepts to engineers and product teams.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and drive projects and capability outcomes to completion.
  • Capability-ownership mindset with accountability for technical quality, adoption, standards, and continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance hands-on technical leadership with team and people leadership.
  • Experience assessing candidates for technical positions.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly develop a working understanding of new technologies.
  • Fast learner with a strong willingness to acquire and apply new skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to accept feedback and take action.
