Education: B.E./B.Tech – Electrical Engineering

Compensation: ₹up to 20 lpa, based on experience and expertise

ROLE

We are seeking a seasoned Head – Design & Engineering to oversee the entire Design function for Switchgear, covering LV, MV, Utility, and Standard Products.

The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in switchgear and panel design and manufacturing, demonstrating a strong capacity to lead teams, drive cost efficiencies, standardization, product innovation, and engineering excellence.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Direct and manage the entire Design & Engineering Department for LV, MV, Utility, and Standard Products.
• Supervise the preparation and approval of SLDs, schematics, GA drawings, panel layouts, fabrication drawings, BOMs, and technical documentation.
• Ensure design compliance with customer requirements and relevant IEC/IS standards.
• Implement Design-to-Cost and Value Engineering strategies to minimize costs associated with copper, sheet metal, components, assembly, and overall manufacturing.
• Create standardized and modular designs, along with standard BOMs and component libraries across various product lines.
• Guarantee adherence to company SOPs.
• Enhance panel design, dimensions, busbar configurations, component selection, and manufacturing processes.
• Lead initiatives in new product development, product enhancement, optimization, and design standardization.
• Collaborate closely with Production, Purchasing, Quality, Testing, Projects, and Sales departments to address engineering challenges and enhance manufacturability.
• Offer technical guidance for customer specifications, technical discussions, type testing, and approvals.
• Ensure timely delivery of engineering outputs while minimizing design errors, rework, and production challenges.
• Mentor the Design team, setting appropriate KPIs and performance metrics.
• Encourage effective use of AutoCAD, SolidWorks, E3/EPLAN, and other engineering tools.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

• 10–15+ years of relevant experience in LV/MV switchgear, electrical panels, or switchgear manufacturing.
• In-depth hands-on knowledge of electrical and mechanical design for LV & MV panels.
• Demonstrated experience in cost reduction and value engineering.
• Experience in managing and developing a Design/Engineering team.
• Strong grasp of switchgear manufacturing, IEC/IS standards, and testing protocols.
• Good commercial acumen with the ability to balance quality, technical performance, and cost.
• Exceptional leadership, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Must be a hands-on technical leader with a strong focus on shop-floor activities.

• AutoCAD – Mandatory
