Design Engineer

Job Overview:

• We are looking for a talented individual with expertise in the design of automotive exterior and interior plastic components for leading global automotive OEMs.
• This position requires collaboration across various functions to facilitate the entire product development lifecycle, from RFQ to TKO, while ensuring compliance with regulations and generating drawing packages.

Primary Duties:

• Create and innovate plastic trim designs for global passenger vehicles.
• Focus areas include bumpers, tailgates, lighting, body claddings, and interior trims such as instrument panels and floor consoles.
• Engage with client engineers to comprehend requirements and independently execute designs with minimal oversight.
• Work alongside cross-functional teams and suppliers to oversee deliverables, participate in design evaluations and meetings, and fulfill program specifications.
• Guide a team of 2-3 members on perimeter programs.
• Demonstrate effective communication skills to collaborate with onsite engineers and clients in understanding project needs.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical or Automobile Engineering with 3-9 years of experience in plastics product design for the automotive sector.
• Proficiency in PD tools such as CATIA V5, NX, Teamcenter, and Windchill.
• In-depth understanding of the product development process, new product development (NPD), plastic materials, and manufacturing techniques.
• Solid grasp of plastic design standards and tooling principles.
• Familiarity with automotive safety regulations, including ECE and FMVSS, is preferred.
• Ability to conduct regulatory assessments on style surfaces concerning passenger and pedestrian safety (ECE 26).
• Experience in assembly management and OEM drawing creation is a plus.
• Comfortable working with European or American clients, demonstrating cross-cultural awareness.
• Exceptional communication skills, including written, verbal, and listening abilities.
