Datastage Developer

Position Overview:

• Become an integral part of a dynamic data engineering team where you will spearhead the creation and implementation of dependable, high-performance data integration solutions.
• In this capacity, you will assume responsibility for the complete ETL delivery process, collaborating with stakeholders to identify data requirements, converting them into scalable data pipelines, and ensuring the precise and efficient transfer of data between systems.
• You will promote best practices, mentor fellow team members, and drive ongoing enhancements in quality, performance, and operational stability.

Primary Responsibilities:

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in designing and developing large-scale distributed data processing pipelines utilizing Datastage and related technologies.
• Proficiency in Datastage ETL batch processing.
• Experience with data warehousing and ETL methodologies and techniques.
• Familiarity with UNIX shell scripting is a plus for scheduling and executing application jobs.
• Experience with Cloud Pak for Data is an added benefit.
• At least 3 years of involvement in project development lifecycle activities and maintenance projects.
• Engage with business stakeholders and other subject matter experts to grasp high-level business requirements.
• Collaborate with Solution Designers and assist in the formulation of project plans by participating in the scoping and estimation of proposed projects.
• Utilize your technical expertise to understand business and system knowledge for the elicitation of Systems Requirements for projects.
• Operate in an Agile environment, participating in daily standups, sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.
• Comprehend project requirements and convert them into technical solutions that adhere to project quality standards.
• Demonstrate the ability to work within a diverse team of multiple stakeholders and collaborate with upstream and downstream functional teams to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve data-related issues.
• Exhibit strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities.
• Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Desire and experience working in a global delivery environment.
• Stay informed about emerging technologies and industry trends in development.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Proven ability to enhance ETL performance through effective design, parallelism, and tuning strategies within DataStage InfoSphere environments.
• Experience implementing quality practices such as reusable frameworks, standardized templates, and review checklists to boost consistency and expedite delivery.
• Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to clarify requirements, communicate risks, and align delivery plans with business objectives.
