Database Administrator

Maimsd Technology is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Database Administrator (DBA) to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge and hands-on experience in both relational and NoSQL database management systems, with a strong focus on optimizing performance, ensuring data integrity, managing security, and providing robust administrative support for critical database environments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Administer and maintain both standalone and clustered database environments across various platforms.
• Optimize database performance through efficient indexing strategies, partitioning techniques, and advanced query optimization.
• Manage and support diverse database technologies, including popular relational databases (e.g., MySQL, MS SQL) and NoSQL databases (preferably Couchbase).
• Ensure the highest levels of data integrity, availability, security, and scalability for all managed databases.
• Implement and manage modern data storage solutions such as S3/Parquet and Delta tables.
• Proactively monitor database performance, troubleshoot complex issues, and implement effective solutions to maintain operational excellence.
• Collaborate closely with development teams to design, implement, and optimize database solutions that meet application requirements.
• Implement and manage comprehensive database backup strategies, restore procedures, and recovery models to ensure business continuity.
• Perform routine database maintenance tasks, including upgrades, patches, and migrations, to keep systems current and secure.
• Document all database processes, procedures, and configurations thoroughly for knowledge sharing and compliance.

Requirements:

Required:

• 5-10 years of proven experience as a Database Administrator (DBA).
• Strong understanding of fundamental database management principles.
• Proficiency in administering and managing both relational databases (e.g., MySQL, MS SQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g., Couchbase).
• Demonstrated experience in optimizing database performance and implementing efficient query processing techniques.
• Familiarity with Linux environments and basic administration tasks.
• Knowledge of Parquet file structures as relational data stores.

Preferred:

• Experience with AWS RDS (Relational Database Service) and Databricks (on AWS).
• Understanding of Databricks and Unity Catalogue.
• Practical experience with S3/Parquet and Delta tables.
• Knowledge of Apache Drill and Trino DB connectors.
• Prior experience with Hadoop, Parquet file formats, Impala, and HIVE.

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (preferred).

Skills:

• Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a team.
• Certification in relevant database technologies (desired).
