Job Description: Construction Engineer

The Construction Engineer is responsible for overseeing and coordinating project works with contractors and maintaining project performance goals. They coordinate work efforts and ensure activities are sequenced in accordance with the project schedule. A Construction Engineer must be highly skilled in the construction business to evaluate methods and performance across all project elements for which they are accountable.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5–10 years of onsite experience on major projects in any sector (Infrastructure, Real Estate, Power, Steel, or Chemical).
  • Involvement in at least 2 significant major projects similar in size and scope as delivered by TCE.

Qualification:

  • Postgraduate or graduate in an engineering discipline.
  • Postgraduate degree/diploma in construction management (preferable).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor Job Site Health, Safety, and Environment: Ensure contractors are protecting workers at the job site.
  • Construction Supervision & Contract Administration: Supervise contractors and subcontractors for assigned portions of the project.
  • Coordinate Design Deliverables: Assist in coordinating design deliverables to support continuous and efficient construction.
  • Primary Point of Contact for Contractors: Serve as the main contact for contractors in the assigned area of the project.
  • Plan and Chair Safety Meetings: Plan and chair project safety meetings, assist with incident investigations, and participate in TCE safety programs and initiatives.
  • Manage Deficiencies and Non-Conformance: Communicate and resolve issues related to deficiencies and non-conformance to the Construction Manager.
  • Assist with Estimating, Scheduling, and Reporting: Support construction estimating, scheduling, cost control, measurement verification, and invoice certification for contractor work in the assigned area.
  • Lead Bill Certification Process: Oversee Bill Certification, quantity measurement, and resolve scope issues for the assigned construction area.
  • Act as Administrative Spokesperson: Step in as administrative spokesperson during the Construction Manager's absence.
  • Assist with Proposal Development: Contribute to the development and review of construction-related information for proposals and other business improvement activities.
  • Provide Construction Input for Constructability Plans: Participate in the creation and review of project constructability plans.
  • Provide Inputs for Progress Reports: Contribute to daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports and track contractor rates for major construction activities.
  • Assist with Site Issue Resolution: Help the Construction Manager address site issues and implement corrective measures.
  • Coordinate Construction and Commissioning: Assist in coordinating between construction and commissioning teams and establishing an effective handover policy.
  • Ensure Implementation of Safety and Quality Plans: Ensure that project safety and quality plans are strictly implemented.
  • Provide Inputs for Planning and Billing: Contribute to planning and billing activities for the project.
