Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

Strategy & Leadership:

  • Lead and manage the S2B (Software-to-Business) API Banking chapter, ensuring alignment with the bank's digital transformation and business objectives.
  • Define and drive the strategic roadmap for API banking, integrating business and technology goals for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate closely with other teams (Product, IT, Operations) to develop and implement innovative API banking solutions.
  • Ensure high standards of service, performance, and security in API services.
  • Drive cultural change within the team, fostering collaboration, agility, and continuous learning.

Team Management & Development:

  • Lead a team of API specialists, guiding, coaching, and mentoring them to deliver high-quality solutions.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, encouraging the exploration of new technologies and best practices in API design and development.
  • Ensure continuous skill development within the chapter by promoting knowledge sharing and cross-functional collaboration.

API Design & Development:

  • Oversee the design, development, and delivery of scalable and secure APIs, ensuring alignment with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Work with stakeholders to understand their requirements and develop APIs that enhance business processes, customer experience, and operational efficiency.
  • Ensure smooth integration of API solutions into various business applications and platforms, both internal and external.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Engage with key internal and external stakeholders to identify new business opportunities, enhance API offerings, and drive customer adoption.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to stakeholders regarding API solutions, adoption, and best practices.
  • Work with Compliance and Risk teams to ensure that APIs meet regulatory standards and security protocols.

Innovation & Continuous Improvement:

  • Stay up to date with the latest trends, tools, and technologies in API development, banking services, and digital transformation.
  • Lead initiatives to improve the efficiency and scalability of the bank's API infrastructure.
  • Identify areas for process improvement within the API development lifecycle and ensure continuous optimization of workflows and delivery cycles.

Governance & Compliance:

  • Ensure that all API solutions are compliant with applicable regulations, standards, and internal governance frameworks.
  • Promote and enforce best practices for API development, security, and documentation.
  • Manage risks associated with API implementations, ensuring proper testing, monitoring, and incident management.

Skills & Experience:

  • Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of API design, development, and integration, with experience in S2B banking.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to lead teams, provide guidance, and foster a culture of innovation and collaboration.
  • API Platforms: Familiarity with popular API management platforms and tools (e.g., Apigee, MuleSoft, Kong).
  • Business Acumen: Strong understanding of the financial services industry, especially in digital banking and API-based business models.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Security & Compliance: Understanding of industry standards and regulations related to API security, such as OAuth, OpenID, and data privacy laws.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Languages: Proficient in English; knowledge of additional languages is a plus.
  • Experience: Minimum 8-10 years of experience in API development, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership role within a digital banking or technology environment.
