Core Responsibilities:

• Oversee end-to-end quality engineering for REST APIs, from requirements analysis through production validation for projects requiring 5 nines (99.999%) reliability.
• Design, implement, and uphold robust API testing strategies, encompassing functional, integration, contract, regression, and negative testing.
• Lead the development of API test automation frameworks and suites, ensuring comprehensive coverage, reliability, and maintainability across various services and microservices.
• Collaborate with architects and developers to assess API specifications (e.g., Swagger/OpenAPI) to ensure they are testable, consistent, and compliant with established standards.
• Establish and enforce best practices related to API testing, automation, and quality gates within Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
• Investigate complex defects and production issues, perform root cause analysis, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement enduring solutions.
• Coach and mentor junior QA automation engineers on API testing methodologies, tools, and automation best practices.

Technical Qualifications:

• Proven expertise in API test automation, including the construction and maintenance of automation suites for REST APIs.
• Demonstrated capability to formulate test strategies, plans, and quality assurance processes for complex distributed systems.
• Experience with the integration of automated API tests into CI/CD pipelines and familiarity with Agile Scrum methodologies.
• Strong foundation in overall testing practices, including test design techniques, risk-based testing, and regression optimization.
• Successful history of leading small to medium-sized QA automation teams, providing technical direction and conducting code reviews for testing assets.
• Ability to analyze logs, traces, and API responses to swiftly diagnose issues and assist in root cause analysis.
